Annual dresses from Nicaragua

Grandpa made his annual trip to Nicaragua while Grandma and Aunt Jaye came to see us. Although we greatly missed him, we are very proud of him for making this commitment year after year. These are two of the dresses he picked out sent to us. As usual, we love them!!!

"Thak you Grandpa
We LOve you
Love Brenna
Bailey
and
Piper" (piper wrote her own name!)
(click picture to enlarge and see details of the drawing.)

It is stinking hot!

After VBS on Friday, we met some friends at the park. The kids basically just hung out under the slide and dug in the dirt. Dirt mixed with sweat makes for dirty little faces.
So we came home and played in the sprinkler.

And looked good doing it!

We released the butterflies...

Piper was very curious about the butterflies and enjoyed looking at each one. Brenna...not so much. :) She was fine watching from a distance.

One flew up and landed on top of the house (see below). See B directing from a safe distance?

I think we will order more butterflies next week!!!

I know, I know this is LONG overdue

June has been a blur!!! I don't even know how to sum it all up. After our trip to Texas, we got ready for a visit from Grandma Jo and Aunt Jaye. And what a visit it was! Here are a few highlights.
Grandma had a truckload of stuff for the girls. Literally! There were clothes, dolls, a teeter toter, these blow up, bumping, bouncers, books, and I don't even know what else! The stuff just kept coming in. It was nuts, but the girls loved it, of course.

We played a lot and laughed even more. They also helped up get ready for Relay, which took place over the weekend.

And, we went to Pop's

OH...and about a year ago, Aunt Jaye bought the girls a Butterfly Tree. We finally got around to ordering the larvae for it. And what fun we have had! Here are the stages:

We will release them this week.

I would say my next blog will be an update of Relay, but truth be told, I only took one picture and it is not worth downloading on the computer. I hope someone else got some great shots they are willing to share. It was a great event and I am already looking forward to next year!

Texas Weekend

We drove to San Antonio last week for a visit to Ben, Jaime and the boys. Our girls are incredible travelers and really made the trip easy! And it was worth the drive. Cousins playing is good memory makin'!

Ben and Jaime live in a beautiful home near a great neighborhood park. We walked over there the second day we were in town and burned off some energy after an all day drive.
A cousin train
Briggs was the engine and Piper was the caboose.

There was a large swimming pool at the park, but we were not prepared to go swimming, so we dipped our toes in to cool off a bit. It was a struggle to keep them out of the water, especially Briggs!
Between Ben's guitar collection, the karaoke machine and the play lounge bar set (piano with microphone), we had some serious jam sessions. Ben successfully taught my girls to sing "Welcome to the Jungle". Not my proudest moment.

On Saturday the kids played in the pool Grammy gave Briggs for this birthday.
Isn't he just almost edible?????

Our girls doing new tricks!!
We had a great visit and look forward to more cousin time!!!!
And we will get it quick. Because of a wedding, they will be at our house this weekend for a little bit!

Movin' on to Kindergarten (All Day!)

After Bren's last day of Pre-K, we went to Pop's to celebrate. It was a great treat and a beautiful day!!
Church and Public school buddies

Best teachers yet! :)

Seriously, where do they learn this stuff????

Our pop selections

Rolling down the lush hill at Pop's!

It looks like Brenna can go to Heaven...

She graduated Ms. McBride's Pre-K class on Wednesday night! Rumor is that if you are a member of our congregation, you have to have passed her class to pass through the pearly gates at the end of life. I hope this class is just the beginning of incredible challenges to learn God's word and Ms. McBride is one of many teachers who show Brenna what God's love is about.

Enjoyable, quiet, unscheduled weekend

We spent the better part of the weekend in our back yard. All our meals were eaten out there and lots of imaginative play took place, but once we came inside our girls were getting a little stir crazy...
the game

the take down

So we went back out side!!!

Gena, your post about the Hong Kong Chef got me craving Chinese, so we gave them another try. I laughed out loud when I pulled out the menu I found in our mailbox months ago. (I have no idea how it got in there.) I thought this would add fuel to your fire. :)
